Westinghouse Rail Systems Australia is Australia’s leading railway signal and control systems specialist. Due to our rapid expansion, we have a 12 month contract opportunity for a Systems Designer to join our Engineering Department in South Melbourne.
This role will support the wider team through their involvement in systems design and testing. Further, you will have the opportunity to support the delivery of major projects through entry of graphical layouts and driving logic for our train control systems. Your willingness to get your hands dirty will be tested as you set up and test various electronic and computer systems, under supervision.
In order to succeed in this role, you will need to have specific experience in MS Office packages such as Excel, Access and Project, as well as a general knowledge of the Microsoft Suite and operating systems. Your ability to learn and pick up new software and systems will be utilised as we train you in our industry specific software and programs.
You will be a step ahead if you already have administrative experience, a leaning towards science and mathematics at high school, or even have started a university course in IT, electronics, engineering or another related discipline. An ability to analyse problems and a basic understanding of digital systems will also be highly regarded.
The person we have in mind will have excellent written and verbal communication skills which assist them to work efficiently in a team environment. Your willingness to learn and ask questions will be essential to pick up our systems quickly. Your technical mindedness, combined with your strong attention to detail and planning skills will keep you self motivated in this busy and challenging position.
